While accountants in federal, state and local entities are enthusiastic about their challenging careers serving the public, many accounting students are unaware of the options available to them in government. To highlight the many opportunities government accounting has to offer, the Government Performance and Accountability Committee has created a slide presentation for use in recruiting students for government positions at college recruiting efforts and Beta Alpha Psi meetings. AICPA is looking for members to profile as part of a refresh to the AICPA student recruitment campaign’s Web site, StartHereGoPlaces.com, the Institute is looking to feature some current AICPA members who break the mold of the CPA stereotype inside and outside of the office. Examples include unique, interesting or unusual hobbies or interests, or significant volunteer work. Members who can capture the restless imaginations of today’s youth and inspire them to be the next generation of CPAs are encouraged to submit a profile on what makes them great role models for the profession.
